we could agree to cross ayn rand off the list and go from there.
back in college some of my friends convinced me to read atlas shrugged. i didn't get very far into it before deciding i would rather scrub the bathroom floor with a toothbrush in my spare time.
I considered teaming up with twif (we seem to split the difference of non-sf). You started a small meme, or propagated one. (Also I'm down to only 21--didn't read Grapes of Wrath.)
I'm thinking about it--it'd take me two years to read 80 books, but there are a bunch in there I wanna. Can we make it a friendly bet, lazily monitored? Can I skip Tom Wolfe too? (Thomas is still okay.)
cat, you lofty soul, you! too well-behaved to read the dangerous books?
i went through a hemingway phase some years ago and read practically every word he ever wrote, but i'm not sure i'd be as enthusiastic now. you can leave those for last if you want to.
ok, keifus, i'll take all y'all on. i say we start with the 'bad' books, we can always expand to the entire list of 100 later [most of the books i want to read are on the not-banned list].

22, dammit.
ha!
probably that makes us even though [and the game still works too].
we could do the karl rove / george bush thing and see who makes it through the rest of the list first.
I'm not reading even one Ayn Rand, so I think I concede in advance.

I'm embarrassed to even post here -I've only read 12½* of the 40-some books listed there.
*I tried to read Hemingway, and yawned too much
