Heartbreaking.

Back during the Reagan Era of Homelessness, I bicycled to and from work every day along the hike-'n'-bike trail beside a major bayou. The bike trail went underneath bayou bridges. Each bridge served as shelter for at least one homeless person. Many of them had... wait for it... alarm clocks beside their sleeping bags. That's right: they were employed but homeless. That was just under 30 years ago. Has any damned thing changed since then?

i remember whole communities underneath causeways when i lived in miami.

several people here spent hurricane ivan under one of the local overpasses [they were interviewed on tv]. i can't imagine having to do that.
