Who needs blankets when you've got cats?

The weather has turned a mite coolish here of late. I was lying on the sofa reading a library book earlier today, the sliding glass door was open, a chill breeze was moving around the room, but I was toasty warm --- covered in 5 kittens and a cat.

And just in case you were worried about the 6th kitten...

Covered by cats sounds snuggly warm.

Alex, the cat who owns me, has deserted my bed because of the cold. He has discovered that making a nest (with a towel he clawed down from the bathroom rack) on half the heat register in the kitchen is warmer that snuggling with his human. Besides which, he is closer to his cat food and snacks. I feel…rejected.

I had a 5 cat night last night, but not the same five cats at any time, as they took breaks through out the night.

the dog and curmudgeon cat and i have taken to closing the bedroom door and leaving the rest of the place to the thundering herd at night. i've learned to sleep through being run over by hordes of kittens all night, but curmudgeon cat and the dog have not adapted well.

Awwww - the cat's out of the bag now, but only barely. Did you place the Lilian book there for the photo?

On cool nights, Stella usually has Tabitha's company, but seldom Samantha's. I don't know if it's a territorial thing, or if Samantha just prefers her solitude. It's a pity, really; Samantha has the potential (as a fairly massive cat) to contribute more warmth.

[the books were all already there, just as you see them]

massive cats seem to be like that, possibly because they're so big they fall off of whatever human they're trying to drape themselves over. curmudgeon cat, who is his own sofa cushion, will sleep on top of me, but only for a short time.
