Librarian cat's work is never done.

Too cute! Does this one now have a name, thanks to Bryan? Watch what you feed it; library and bookstore cats tend to grow without bound.

that one might be christopher houdini.

i'm not sure who did the excavating on the shelf, it could have been any one of a number of them. just out of the picture, at the same height, is the table with the cat food bowl on it, so this shelf serves as kind of a holding area for hungry kitties.

also, that's one of the floor-to-ceiling bookcases, and has attracted much king-of-the-hill activity.

I want one! (Kitten or floor-to-ceiling bookcase; either will bring me joy.)

My new house has several floor-to-ceiling bookcases (y'all don't mind listening while I brag about my new house, do you?).

It's an awful cute cat...but my favorite part of this picture is that now I get to play the "bookcase game," and see what books we have in common--just two: "Terrestrial Plant Ecology," and "Birds of Puerto Rico." But I'm most impressed by "Nuclear and Radiochemistry." Almost makes up for the Harry Potter.

Hmph. Why turn up your nose at Harry Potter? I have two very similar Agatha Christie volumes, Strunk and White (of course), Birds of North America (my late father's copy, to be honest). "And there may be many others, but they haven't been discharvard."

bookcase game on! put up photos of your bookcases, with cats, preferably, on your blogs.

arch: bonus points if you were actually in puerto rico when you bought it. and you shouldn't be too impressed with the radiochemistry. i wasn't a stellar student in that course. i did better in the ones where they actually let us blow stuff up in lab.

steve: bonus points for the tom lehrer! but since i have every word agatha ever wrote, some of them in triplicate, and some of them under a pseudonym, that one wasn't hard to match. :D

hmmm... 4 floor-to-ceiling bookcases, 6 kittens. obviously i need more bookcases.

ps. arch, and you could brag about your new house too!

you are sooo cruel. i'm spilling all sorts of oxytocin, and there isn't a soul around to hug.

I'll have to wait a day or two before I can post bookcase photos--my library is still in cardboard boxes. There's nothing on the shelves right now but the cats.

And I missed "Birds of North America" in the picture, but of course I have several copies. And, no, I wasn't in Puerto Rico when I bought that book. I've never been. It's a wishful thinking sort of deal. But I do have a "Birds of South Africa" in Afrikaans that I bought in Potchefstroom.

ok, now i'm really really jealous.

bookcases with nothing but cats! sounds like a photo op to me. also, cats helping to unpack boxes.... i do not, however, envy you the unpacking, even with cats helping out.

catnapping: my apologies. the kittens didn't put a long-distance hex on your evilness rating, did they?
