"A President is impeachable

if he attempts to subvert the Constitution."

Barbara Jordan, quoting James Madison, here.

But who has the guts? Not the democrats: give the republicans credit, they'll impeach for just about anything. Even something stupid.

it was a brilliant move on the part of the republicans, whether they meant it that way or not: a couple of generations, if not more, of otherwise hardy and fearless democrats is going to go all weak at the knees because in some dark corner of their brains impeachment = deviant sex and licentiousness.

Decades ago... in fact, at the time she made that speech... Barbara Jordan was my Representative. Now those were the days.
